NOCK THE ROCK Race Description
The Nock The Rock Half Marathon was founded by Wade Clark in 2011.
Wade began running to help cope with the tragic loss of his brother and friends in a local avalanche. He was the only survivor. The inscription on “The Rock” is Gaelic and means “Stone Of Help”. It is where Wade started and ended each run during his time of healing.
Wade had to hustle to be the first one across the finish-line that first year even though he was the only one running the race. he picked up some goats along the course and they nearly beat him to the finish! The goat has become the mascot of this iconic race!
Nock the Rock is an incredibly scenic 13.1 mile run in the beautiful mountains surrounding Soda Springs, Idaho. The course will test your endurance and stamina with a variety of terrain. Gravel, Pavement, Trail—we’ve got it all!!! A start and finish on the beautiful property owned by the Clarks, where you can camp the night before the race, just steps away from the start and finish-line. Gentle rolling hills and mostly flat terrain make this a local favorite! (See course for details).
We have recently added a 5k run which will start 15 minutes after the Half marathon, and the kids run will start 30 minutes before the Half Marathon!
Race Location: 311 West 4th South in Soda Springs.
If you would like, The Clarks have opened up their beautiful property and welcome anyone who wants to, to camp at the “Peace By The River Park”. Porta Potties will be provided as there are no restrooms on site. Bring your own tent and sleeping bag!
We hope you take a moment and “ Nock the Rock” when you head toward the finish-line!
